Citrus Tofu with Broccoli

This is a simple dish of tofu and broccoli with a zingy dressing. Tofu is rich in protein, calcium and iron. Broccoli is too, and is also rich in vitamins and dietary fibre. Both foods are cholesterol free.


1 block firm tofu
3 Tbsp soy sauce
3 Tbsp sake
3 Tbsp orange juice
3 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp brown sugar
1 packet broccoli

Cooking Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to boil. Add some salt and then add the block of firm tofu. Cook until it begins to float (5 to 10 minutes).
  • Mix together the soy sauce, sake, orange and lemon juice and water with a little brown sugar and the sesame oil. This makes the dressing.
  • Remove the tofu and place the broccoli into the water. Count to 20 and drain.
  • Serve thick slices of tofu with the broccoli florets, drizzling the dressing all over.
Serves 2 people
